Alberton Shotokan Karate gets new black belts
The South African Shotokan Karate Academy (SASKA) recently held its national black belt grading at its headquarters in Pretoria.
Headed by Hanshi Koos Burger (ninth dan), together with his Shihan Kai grading panel members, the high Shotokan Standards of all grading candidates were put to the test.
Head instructors of the Alberton Shotokan Karate club, sensei Laurent Gaston-Bellegarde (seventh dan) and sensei Nicholas Gaston-Bellegarde (sixth dan), were proud of two of their students from the dojo who successfully passed to their respective belts on the day.
Tyron dos Santos passed to his first dan and Raveen Dayaram to his second.
The Cobras club trains at Ascot Mews, 19 Heidelberg Avenue, Newmarket, on Monday and Wednesday at 17:30 to 18:30 (beginner classes) and 18:30 to 19:30 (advanced classes).
