The suspect was detained at Brackendowns SAPS after attempting to kidnap a woman in Brackendowns on April 4.

According to Sergeant Lindile Moloi, communications officer for Brackendowns, the victim went to bed with all doors and windows locked when she heard a noise in her room. When she opened her eyes, she saw an African male standing next to her bed, pointing, what looked like a firearm at her.

The perpetrator told her to offer him a beer, but she informed him she didn’t have one but did have some wine in the kitchen. She walked him to the kitchen to show him.

She noted that he was wearing gloves. The complainant also saw that the suspect was intoxicated.

After that, the perpetrator took his gloves off and placed them with a key on the kitchen counter, then took the bottle and started drinking leftover wine.

The victim described the keys as her keys, which she left in the locked back door.

After he finished drinking the wine, he asked her to get into the car since he was going to Thokoza to buy beers.
He then pushed her into the car and drove a Kia Picanto to Thokoza. He stopped at a house and picked up a bag of clothes.

He then told her that he was taking her to Vereeniging and proceeded to drive on the R59 towards Vereeniging.

The suspect stopped at a garage and exited the vehicle. The victim noticed that the suspect had left the key in the ignition. She then started the car and proceeded to Brackendowns SAPS, where she reported the incident.
