Murder suspect detained in Alberton SAPS whilst firearm is missing

Alberton SAPS is continuing with the search to find the firearm that was used in a murder incident in Rondebult.

Alberton SAPS members were called to the scene of a crime in Rondebult, Linch Street, on May 5.

On their arrival, they found an African male dead. All role players were summoned to the scene of the crime.
The information from the witnesses was that the suspect was known by one of the members of the community.

The members of the crime office and the other role players went out to search for the suspect who was armed and suspected to be a danger to everyone in the community and also to himself.

They went out in full force to avoid other casualties and found him at his hiding place. The firearm used in the killing of the victim is still missing.

Anyone with any information about the firearm is urged to come forward, and please hand it in to the police.
The community is advised not to tamper with any crime scene. Residents are urged to call the police and not take the law into their own hands.

“It is a crucial offence to assault a suspect of a crime or criminal after he is already apprehended. Always call the police to the scene because they know what to do,” said Colonel Olehile Oliven Letloenyanyane, Alberton SAPS station commander.

He is happy with the swift response to this matter and thankful to those who assisted the police in getting the alleged perpetrator.
