Mulbarton restaurant murder case: Rowland gets new council

Daniel Rowland trial to resume at the beginning of December.

Daniel Rowland, accused of murder and drug possession after he was involved in a shooting at Il Camino restaurant in Mulbarton in 2021, appeared for the postponement of his trial on October 29 in the Booysens Magistrate’s Court.

When his case was heard on October 9, Roland explained he obtained the services of a new lawyer, Mohammed Mayet. Although Mayet was not available, he sent a representative on his behalf, Ebrahim Hoosein.

Hoosein requested a postponement until October 29, which the court granted to allow Mayet to procure the trial transcripts.

On October 29, Mayat took over the defence and asked for yet another postponement.

“Your worship I ask for a postponement to December 6, to have time to study the transcripts and so that we may set a trial date for early next year,” said Mayat.

The magistrate, Hasina Habib, granted the postponement to December 6.

“The court grants the postponement to allow the defence to analyse the transcripts. We will set a trial date for early next year,” said Habib.

An exact date for his trial to resume has not been confirmed.
