Suspects arrested in Alrode South following CPF and SAPS collaboration
Two suspects were arrested on July 11 in Alrode South after being caught using counterfeit cash to scam local businesses.
An urgent call for assistance was received on July 11 via the Brackendowns CPF, after a SAPS officer began pursuing a suspicious vehicle in the Alrode area.
According to Fox Security, security companies and CPF members swiftly responded and managed to intercept the vehicle on Bosworth Road.
The suspects had allegedly been targeting local businesses by posing as customers. Using counterfeit money, they made small purchases and collected real cash as change.
Several businesses are believed to have fallen victim to the scam in recent weeks.
The suspects were arrested on the scene and transported to Brackendowns SAPS, where formal charges were laid.
“Well done to all parties involved in this successful arrest and their continued efforts to combat crime in our community,” said Fox Security in a statement on Facebook.
