3 suspects arrested in Alberton after high-speed chase
The suspects were found in possession of car-breaking implements, computer boxes, and generic keys for Toyota vehicles.
Dramatic scenes in Alberton after three suspects were arrested in Alberton following a high-speed chase.
CPS Security used its newly launched license plate recognition (LPR) camera to keep track of the suspects.
“Working closely with the EMPD CLU unit, CPS Security successfully apprehended three suspects involved in a high-speed chase. It all started when our LPR cameras in the Southcrest area flagged a suspicious vehicle, which was later spotted in the Randhart area. A high-speed chase ensued, and the vehicle eventually lost control on Heidelberg Road in the Newmarket area,” said CPS Security in a statement.
The suspects reportedly fled on foot, but law enforcement was hot on their heels, apprehending all three men.
A vehicle search conducted at the scene revealed car breaking implements, computer boxes, and generic keys for Toyota vehicles. The suspects were arrested, handed over to SAPS and will face multiple charges.
“A huge thank you to the teams that assisted in effecting the arrests. We are proud to work together with the EMPD to keep our communities safe. The scene is still active,” read CPS’ statement.
