Opeartion Shanela in Kliprivier sees 39 arrests, including 38 undocumented foreign nationals and one employer accused of hiring illegal workers.

A joint operation led by Sedibeng District Commissioner Major General Nkhensani Mukwevho resulted in the arrest of nearly 40 people in the Kliprivier policing precinct on October 2.

The multidisciplinary operation, conducted under the national Operation Shanela initiative, targeted illegal activities and law enforcement compliance within the area.

According to Sergeant Ndhambi, Kliprivier communication spokesperson, 38 undocumented foreign nationals were arrested for being in South Africa without valid documentation.

In addition, one employer was taken into custody for knowingly hiring undocumented individuals, an offence under South African immigration and labour laws.

Kliprivier SAPS has urged members of the public and employers to comply with immigration regulations and cooperate with law enforcement, as similar operations are expected to continue in the coming weeks.
