Brackendowns suspects caught stripping filling station

Two suspects were apprehended on site after CCTV operators detected cable theft in progress, highlighting the effectiveness of rapid response security in Ekurhuleni.

Two suspects were apprehended in the act of stripping infrastructure from a filling station in Brackendowns, following swift action by a CCTV control room and an armed response team.

According to CPS Security, a control room operator detected suspicious activity while monitoring live footage from a client’s premises in the Brackendowns area.

Further observation confirmed that the suspects were removing cables, lights and other equipment from the property.

Reaction vehicles were immediately dispatched and arrived within minutes.

Both suspects were apprehended on site, and the stolen items were successfully recovered.

A case of theft and malicious damage to property has been opened, and the suspects were detained at Brackendowns SAPS.

Tyrone van der Merwe, sales director of CPS Security, said that the incident demonstrates the value of proactive surveillance and rapid response.

“Our off-site CCTV monitoring allows us to detect threats in real time and deploy reaction units immediately. This ensures suspects are apprehended quickly and our clients’ assets are protected,” he said.
