WATCH: Alberton murder-accused couple: Deceased’s daughter takes the stand, denies murder involvement
Delichia Bekker (accused two) finally testified after delays in her testimony. She denied involvement in her deceased mother’s killing, claims they had a good relationship.
The case against the Alberton murder-accused couple, Werner Jack Schoeman (accused one) and Delichia Bekker (accused two), returned to the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on April 20.
The pair is accused of involvement in the murder of Susan Gillian Murray, who lived in Verwoerdpark, Alberton, at the time of her death and was found dumped in Alberton North in November 2023.
Schoeman and Bekker face charges including murder, fraud, and theft. Bekker, Murray’s daughter, is accused of involvement in her mother’s death and was arrested days before Schoeman, who was caught hiding in South Hills.

Commenting on the relationship with her mother, Bekker told the court that it was “good.” She then explained the circumstances that led up to the accused one (Schoeman) moving into her mother’s Verwoerdpark home.
“I was having problems with Anthony, and I asked him if he could please move in to help me sort out the problems with Anthony,” said Bekker.
Asked what her mother’s thoughts were on Schoeman moving in with them, Bekker said: “She had asked me to also speak to him, so she was okay with it.”
Anthony is a mysterious man whose name keeps getting mentioned in the trial. Anthony is understood to have been in a relationship with accused two (Bekker) shortly before she got into a relationship with Schoeman.
Anthony disappeared in 2023, and his family are still searching for him.
Bekker then testified about the disappearance of her mother.

Asked when she last saw her mother, Bekker said: “I’m not exactly sure, your worship. I’m not 100% sure on the dates or the month. But the last time I saw my mom was when she went to sell the car with Anthony.”
Bekker told the court that after her mother’s disappearance, she never tried contacting her. “I didn’t have a phone, your worship. I had no way of contacting her.”
Bekker told the court that the last time she saw her mother (deceased), allegedly with Anthony, it looked like her mother was nervous. “I did ask numerous times about my mother’s whereabouts from Anthony. It even evolved into an argument the third time I enquired,” said Bekker. Her testimony then shifted to vehicles that were removed from the deceased’s home.
Bekker said one car was allegedly sold by her mother, while the other car was sold by Anthony. All the vehicles have since been recovered.
Asked if she killed Murray (deceased), Bekker said: “No, I did not.”
Bekker’s testimony is expected to continue on May 22, 26, and 27. The State is also expected to cross-examine her after her full testimony has been heard in court. Schoeman and Bekker were remanded into custody.
