Kliprivier police investigate body found near riverbank

Police are appealing to the public for help in identifying an unknown man whose body was discovered next to the Kliprivier riverbank in Garthdale.

Police officers from Kliprivier SAPS are investigating an inquest after the body of an unidentified man was discovered near the Kliprivier riverbank in Garthdale.

Kliprivier SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Ndhambi said officers responded to a complaint of a lifeless body lying next to the riverbank at Plot 68 Nelson Road, Garthdale, on May 19.

“Upon arrival, members found the body of an unknown African male, estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old,” said Ndhambi.

The deceased was transported to the Sebokeng Mortuary while investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the death.

Police have appealed to members of the public who may have information that could help identify the deceased to come forward.
