Police probe suspected rape after woman’s body found on Kliprivier Drive

The deceased is believed to be in her late twenties to early thirties.

The body of a woman believed to be in her late twenties to early thirties was found near a veld on Kliprivier Drive in Alberton on May 27. She is also suspected of having been raped.

The circumstances surrounding how the corpse ended up on Kliprivier Drive are subject to a police investigation.

Local police officers and private security personnel gathered at the scene while investigators combed the area for evidence.

The Alberton Record has approached authorities for comment and will update the story once it receives information.

According to the Institute for Security Studies’ (ISS) Crime Hub, which reflects crime statistics released annually by the SAPS, Alberton’s two main policing precincts, Alberton and Brackendowns SAPS, recorded 43 rape and 34 murders, and 15 rape and six murders, respectively, during the latest reporting quarter of the 2025/26 SAPS financial year.
