Female suspect arrested in Sky City as kidnapping investigation continues
A female suspect was arrested in Sky City and a vehicle allegedly linked to the kidnapping of a businessman was seized as investigations into the case continue.
A female suspect was arrested in Sky City during ongoing investigations into the kidnapping of a businessman from the Nelspruit area.
According to a statement issued by CPS Security, investigations and intelligence-driven operations continued following the kidnapping, which occurred last month.
The latest operation involved CPS Security, EMPD CLU, SAPS, Crime Intelligence and other stakeholders.
“Further intelligence led teams to the Sky City area, where a female suspect allegedly involved in the matter was successfully traced and arrested,” said CPS Security.
The suspect is believed to have received proceeds linked to the kidnapping.
During the operation, a white Mercedes-Benz GLE, allegedly used in the commission of the crime, was seized for further investigation.
The latest arrest follows earlier breakthroughs announced by CPS Security in May. At the time, CPS Security said a businessman had been kidnapped in the Nelspruit area by heavily armed suspects travelling in three vehicles.
Following extensive investigations and intelligence-driven operations, a joint operation involving CPS Security, SAPS, DPCI, EMPD CLU, EMPD SWAT, the Mpumalanga Anti Hijacking Unit and Crime Intelligence led to the arrest of two suspects.
The first suspect was arrested in Brackendowns, while a second suspect was traced and arrested in Pretoria after information was circulated to Pretoria Central SAPS.

Two vehicles allegedly used in the kidnapping were seized, along with one firearm. CPS Security described the arrests as “a major breakthrough in the case.”
CPS lauded the effectiveness of intelligence-sharing and coordinated operations between private security and law enforcement agencies. CPS Security confirmed that “the kidnapped businessman has since been safely released”.
Investigations remain ongoing, and further arrests have not been ruled out.
