Sentinel Security arrest armed suspect after allegedly pointing a gun at passenger in Alberton
A dramatic security response unfolded at an Alberton shopping centre after multiple panic alarms were activated over an alleged armed suspect.
An armed suspect was detained after allegedly pointing a gun at a passenger during an altercation involving an e-hailing driver at a shopping centre in Alberton.
According to Sentinel Security, its armed response officers were dispatched to the shopping centre after receiving multiple panic alarm activations.
On arrival, officers found a suspect allegedly brandishing what appeared to be a firearm.
Sentinel Security said its officers quickly de-escalated the situation, disarmed the suspect and detained him without further incident.
Preliminary information indicates the suspect had allegedly been involved in an altercation with an e-hailing driver before drawing the firearm on a passenger.
The incident reportedly prompted on-site security guards to activate the panic alarms, resulting in the rapid response.
The firearm was later confirmed to be unloaded.

The suspect was handed over to Alberton SAPS for further investigation and processing.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
