LPR technology and teamwork lead to arrests in Alberton
Three suspects linked to a business burglary were arrested in Meyersdal after LPR cameras detected their vehicle, leading to a joint operation by CPS Tactical Team and EMPD CLU
Three suspects were arrested in Meyersdal, Alberton, after a vehicle linked to a business burglary was detected by licence plate recognition cameras on July 15.
According to CPS Security, the vehicle had been circulated in connection with a business burglary in which three suspects allegedly stole laptops from a business.
CCTV footage had identified the suspects, and a criminal case had already been opened.
After receiving the LPR alert, the CPS Tactical Team quickly located and stopped the vehicle in Meyersdal.
Working together with the EMPD Central Licensing Unit, officers arrested all three suspects without incident.
The suspects were handed over to the investigating officer at the relevant SAPS station, where they are facing criminal charges linked to the burglary.
CPS Security said the arrests highlight the value of proactive policing, advanced LPR technology, and strong partnerships between private security companies and law enforcement agencies in bringing suspects to justice.
The security company also praised all members involved in the successful operation.
