Sentinel Security recently joined a high-density law enforcement operation coordinated by provincial SAPS leadership as part of ongoing efforts to combat crime in Brackendowns and surrounding areas.

The operation, held on July 20, brought together members of SAPS, the EMPD, CPF, private security companies and other role players.

The initiative focused on targeting crime hotspots and known drug-related areas, increasing law enforcement visibility through roadblocks and conducting vehicle searches for criminal implements.

As part of the operation, a roadblock was established at Klipriver Drive and JG Strydom Road, where vehicles were stopped and searched.

Sentinel Security supported the operation by deploying its Vehicle Licence Plate Recognition (VLPR) scanner system, which scanned 1 921 vehicles during the roadblock.

According to Sentinel Security, each vehicle registration was verified against the SAPS database in real time to assist law enforcement officers.

Loris Barbera of Sentinel Security said the operation resulted in several individuals being taken to SAPS stations to verify their South African residency documentation, while others were taken in for processing after allegedly being found in possession of drugs.

Sentinel Security praised the collaboration between all the agencies involved, saying the operation demonstrated the value of partnerships between law enforcement and private security in helping to create safer communities.
