Eden Park swimming pool opens after a month of waiting
Eden Park residents were finally able to cool off at their local swimming pool after both the main pool and the children’s pool opened on October 15.
Eden Park residents welcomed the reopening of their local swimming pool on October 15, after delays caused by a chlorine gas shortage at the City of Ekurhuleni.
The opening came more than a month after the city officially opened its swimming pools for the season on September 1.
Eden Park was among the facilities that remained closed because the city did not have enough chlorine gas to open all its pools.
During a visit to the facility, the Alberton Record found children and adults enjoying the pools as families made the most of the warm weather.

The main swimming pool and the children’s pool reopened, allowing residents to enjoy the facilities after weeks of waiting.
A walk around the swimming pool facility by the Alberton Record confirmed that the pools and surrounding facility were in place for residents to enjoy.
William Jarvis, an elder in the Eden Park community who had been among those pushing to reopen the swimming pool, said he was happy to see the facility open finally.

Jarvis also offered to give swimming lessons to children in Eden Park, saying he is willing to help young residents learn to swim.
Jarvis said he offered swimming lessons to keep young people occupied with a positive activity, adding that swimming could also support their mental well-being while helping them develop a valuable life skill.
