Dustbin drama in Alberton: Fox Security patrol finds suspect and stolen bin
A stolen dustbin did not get far in Brackendowns, Alberton, after Fox Security reaction officers located the suspect and the missing bin during a patrol.
A Brackendowns resident’s stolen dustbin has become the unlikely centrepiece of a police case after Fox Security reaction officers located the suspect and the missing bin in Neville Street.
According to Fox Security operations director Francois Jansen, the company’s control room received a report from a community group about the stolen dustbin.
“Our Fox Control Room received a report from a community group regarding a resident’s stolen dustbin,” Jansen said.
Reaction officers were dispatched to assist and immediately began patrolling the area.
Their patrol soon produced results, with officers locating both the suspect and the stolen dustbin in Neville Street, Brackendowns.
The suspect was then escorted back to Bospoort Street, where the complainant opened a case.
“During the patrol, our officers located the suspect and the stolen dustbin in Neville Street, Brackendowns,” Jansen said.
Brackendowns SAPS arrived shortly after receiving the complaint, and the suspect was handed over to SAPS members for further investigation and due process.
While a stolen dustbin might sound like a rather unusual reason for a security response, the incident highlights how quickly a community report can lead to action when residents raise the alarm.
Fox Security said it remains committed to assisting the local community and supporting residents wherever possible.
Jansen added: “We are proud to assist our community and remain committed to providing a rapid response and supporting residents wherever possible.”
For one Brackendowns resident, the patrol ended with the return of a rather important household item and a suspect facing further investigation.
