Kliprivier SAPS secure 5 convictions for Immigration Act offences
Offenders received direct prison sentences, deportation and a fine following investigations by two Kliprivier police officers.
The convictions, announced by Kliprivier police on September 2, resulted in various sentences, including direct imprisonment, deportation and a fine.
In CAS 45/08/2026, an offender convicted of contravening the Immigration Act received three months’ direct imprisonment, followed by deportation to their country of origin.
The court handed down a further three-month direct imprisonment sentence and deportation in CAS 44/08/2026 for a similar offence.
In CAS 46/08/2026, the offender was sentenced to three months’ direct imprisonment and deportation after serving the sentence. The court also declared the person unfit to possess a firearm.
In another case, CAS 82/06/2026, the offender was sentenced to three months’ direct imprisonment for contravening the Immigration Act.
In the fifth case, CAS 54/08/2026, the offender received a R2 000 fine or 60 days’ imprisonment.
Kliprivier police station commander Lieutenant Colonel Nompumelelo Mirriam Dlamini commended the investigating officers involved in the cases.
Warrant Officer Chawana investigated three of the matters, while Sergeant Ramunenyiwa investigated two.
Dlamini said the convictions demonstrate the station’s commitment to dealing decisively with contraventions of immigration laws.
Police said the investigating officers secured the convictions through thorough work.
