Alberton SAPS officer says goodbye after 15 years
A former long serving Alberton SAPS member continues to make great strides and will be leaving the Alberton Police Station to join a new branch.
A respected outgoing Alberton SAPS officer is finally saying goodbye to his colleagues and the community.
After serving the Alberton community for 15 years and having served in the force for 29 years, Lieutenant Colonel Thokozani Ximba is adamant about continuing to combat crime.
He occupied the rank of captain for 15 years before his promotion. The 50-year-old will now serve at SAPS Hillbrow SAPS, overseeing duties in the community service centre.
“I started my career at Hillbrow SAPS as a constable and worked for 12 years before moving to Pretoria where I worked for two years and later joined Alberton SAPS. Recently there were posts advertised in SAPS and I successfully secured this position,” he said.
Ximba will start on December 1. He thanked his colleagues and the Alberton community for their cooperation throughout the years.
“I’d also like to thank my new colleagues in Hillbrow as well as my current station commander, especially Relief B, a group that I worked well with for all these years. We fought a good fight, but the fight was forever about reducing crime in our area,” he said.
According to Captain Manare Ramotshela of Alberton SAPS, Ximba has forever been prepared to go above the call of duty.
“He is a highly respected officer who was always hands-on, making sure that duties are carried out competently. For the years that I have known him, he continually put the community and his coworkers first,” he said.
