Clean-up keeps Brackendowns park clean
The community is invited to another clean-up at the park on Palala Street, Brackendowns, on April 1.
Community members united on March 18 to clean a Brackendowns park on Palala Street.
Young and old spent their morning cleaning and picking up litter to restore the park and encourage more people to visit it.
Chantelle Habib of Habibi Properties said some youngsters visit the park on weekends.
“Council had come and cut the grass and left everything there. We then decided to clean it up. Residents came out to assist and helped cut some areas that were not cut, and we want to go back there. Residents need to start using these parks. Eventually, the criminals and vagrants will stop going there,” she said.
Special thanks go to Tshepiso, Charmaine, Amogelang and Kabo Lerefolo, Yolisha and Sundrie Naidoo, Kelvin Kunwenda, Lowrance Sika and Michael and Daniella Weldone for coming through. They were joined by Nikita Oosthuysen and Habib.
Habib said they would have another clean-up on April 1 in Palala Street, Brackendowns.
“We want the community to get involved in keeping their parks clean. On the day of our next clean-up, we will have a braai and hand out drinks. We would appreciate any donations of water and cool drinks, refuse bags and equipment ahead of the event,” she said.
