Help elderly living in isolation
The team will focus on serving senior citizens in Alberton.
Currently, many seniors live in isolation and/or struggle to get to shops, medical appointments, treatments and other places.
They are also lonely and seldom have visitors.
It is the dream and the mission of Alida Jooste, the social worker of Ligstad, of establishing a team of volunteers willing to commit in becoming part of the Ligstad Angels project.
This team will be equipped and mandated to serve the seniors in our community.
“I am aware that most people have work obligations during the day. We do not limit involvement in this programme to weekdays and office hours because each volunteer can commit their time within their unique routines,” said Alida.
“I am in the process of drawing up a document that will answer all the questions about volunteering.”
If you want to get involved, contact Alida at 079 693 3666 or alida.jooste@ligstad.co.za
“Let us make this dream a reality and address this urgent need,” she said.
