Alberton High hosts Open Day ahead of new academic year
Parents and guardians made their way to Alberton High School in their numbers when the school hosted its Open Day on April 22.
Alberton High School was open to the public and targeted Grade Seven learners and their parents to market the school because the families decide on the applications for high school for 2024.
“It was a successful and well-attended event with positive responses that are encouraging for the future of our school as we grow and develop children to be the future change-makers for the fourth industrial revolution,” said Oscar von Platen of Alberton High School.
Subjects had showcase stalls with various activities. These included a paint-by-numbers station for mathematics, word games for Afrikaans, science experiments for physical science, a spelling bee for English, and an art display and pancake-flipping competitions for hospitality studies.
Von Platen said various sports were showcased when their first-team players displayed their skills.
The applications for Grade Eight will be announced by the Gauteng Department of Education in due course.
