Replica firearm used in separate robbery, Alberton SAPS notes
At least three suspects were detained over the weekend on charges of armed robbery, possessing an unlicensed firearm and possessing a replica firearm to commit a crime.
The Alberton SAPS nabbed three suspects in two incidents on May 12 and 13.
On May 12, two suspects stopped a vehicle near the Alberton Fire Station. One suspect pointed a firearm at the complainant and demanded his belongings, which included his cellphone, a bag of clothing and cash, before driving off.
The complainant stopped a metro police vehicle, headed in the same direction as the suspects, and caught them. Upon their arrest, they were found with a replica firearm. They face charges of armed robbery and possession of a replica firearm to commit a crime.
In another incident on May 13 along the N3 Leondale off-ramp in Germiston, a suspect was detained after a firearm and magazine were found in his possession.
The suspect was arrested during a stop-and-search. When asked for a firearm license, he could not provide it.
