Join Epic Foundation and make a difference

Let’s start the new year by uniting to create positive change in the community.

As the new school year kicks off, learners are gearing up to fulfil their community service hours, and the Epic Foundation has a range of impactful options, allowing them to make a difference.

The Epic Foundation, an NPO with a vision to empower survivors of rape and abuse, can always do with more helping hands. If you want to make a positive difference in the community or to earn community service hours, there are various ways to support the foundation.

Resident Alta McMaster founded the Epic Foundation in 2013.

After experiencing various traumas, Alta deeply understands how lonely and helpless one can feel if nobody reaches out to them.

Create positive change in the community.

Alta shared how learners can earn community hours:

Option one: Volunteer at the foundation’s offices in Steeledale

• Saturdays from 09:00 to noon.

• Activities include packing comfort packs, sorting donations, helping with fittings for the Fairy Godmother project, and more. Bookings are required.

Option two: Handmade notebooks

• Get creative and make A5 or A6 notebooks for the foundation.

• Earn one hour for every five handmade books.

Option three: Assemble complete comfort packs for women

• Assemble drawstring bags with essential items for women.

• Earn three hours for every fully packed bag.

Option 4: Assemble a complete comfort pack for a child

• Create drawstring bags with essential items for boys and girls.

• Earn three hours for every fully packed bag.

Option 5: Put individual packs of items in small ziplock bags

• Assemble packs with various items and earn hours for your contribution.

Option 6: Donate essential items
