Community mourns the death of Auntie Varrie

Aunt Tittie Varrie, as she was affectionately known in Edenpark, Germiston and Boksburg passed away on January 25.

She was well known to the community as she lived in Germiston, then together with thousands of others moved to Edenpark in 1976.

She was one of the first school governing body members of Edenpark Secondary School.

She was a veteran Christian, founder and woman council leader of the Edenpark Apostolic Faith Mission Church, representing them on a national level.

Aunt Tittie Varrie passed away on January 25.

She was also one of the boldest female Christian activists doing evangelism on the streets and preaching in buses.

She was born in Worcester and raised as a Roman Catholic in the Eastern Cape in a town called Xala.

At the age of 17, she was married to Vernon Varrie from Germiston, had her first child at age 20, and had nine children within their marriage.

Five years after the death of her husband, she was married again for 17 years to Pastor Absolon (of Victory Faith Centre, Boksburg) and then moved to Delmore until his death.

Aunt Tittie Varrie passed away on January 25.

She has been travelling to England on and off and conferencing with Victory Churches International.

Her last request was to be laid to rest in Edenpark in the same grave as the father of her nine children at the Edenpark Cemetery.

Her memorial service will take place on February 1 with her funeral service on February 3. The venue for both services is the Christian Faith Centre, Abraham Street, Edenpark.
