A smash-and-grab is an incident that happens unexpectedly and within split seconds, where criminals smash through a vehicle’s window to grab valuables in your car.

Here are some tips to avoid these incidents:

• Always pay attention to your surroundings when driving.

• In instances of driving in slow-moving traffic, always be on the lookout for pedestrians moving around your vehicle.

• Never leave any valuables on your seat, whether front or back, but always in the boot.

• Always lock your doors and keep your windows closed.

• Always leave a 2m to 3m two gap between you and the car in front of you, to give room to escape.
