Join the Gold Ribbon Easter egg hunt

Join the Gold Ribbon Easter Egg Hunt at Melville Koppies Nature Reserve.

Looking for a unique Easter adventure that combines nature and fun? Look no further than the Gold Ribbon Easter Egg hunt at Melville Koppies Nature Reserve.

On Easter Sunday, visitors of all ages are invited to explore the reserve in search of gold ‘ribbons’ – the leaves of grasses that resemble golden strands. Once you find one, bring it to the reception hut to exchange it for an Easter egg. Each participant is entitled to one ribbon.

While chocolate eggs are off-limits in the reserve to avoid confusing its inhabitants, there are plenty of activities to enjoy. Take a leisurely 5km hike, embark on a self-guided heritage trail, or soak in the breathtaking views and serene atmosphere.

Search for golden ribbon grasses and get rewarded with an Easter egg.

For those eager to learn more about the reserve’s history and ecology, guided tours are available starting at 08:00 (booking required).

Make a date for March 31, with the event running from 08:00 to 11:30. Parking is opposite the entrance at Marks Park Sports Club in Judith Road, Emmarentia.

Admission is R90 per person, with a discounted rate of R50 for those under 18, contributing to the maintenance of the Koppies.
