A substation in Mayberry Park, Eiger substation, is reported to have exploded in the late hours of June 26.

According to Ward 94 councillor, Samantha Nair, the explosion was at an Eskom power line at Eiger substation in Camdeboo Street following a blaze.

The power line from Eskom supplies the whole of Alrode South, Albertsdal extension, Thokoza South, Eden Park, Phola Park and Greenfields.

Eskom technicians are busy on site testing and restoration time will be communicated in due course.
