According to Nel, quite a few of the small business owners started after Covid-19 due to various circumstances.

“I strongly feel that we need to give small business owners in Alberton the first choice of signing up for Bazaars or markets held in Alberton. I feel strongly about supporting locals.

“I am aware of a few events happening soon, but I was made aware by quite a few of the vendors who tried to apply and were turned away. I feel that this is not in support of the local small businesses in Alberton.”

Des Berry, a local vendor, said, “I thank Riana for this amazing market. We got the opportunity as a first-time vendor to showcase our coffees. Not only did our sales reflect a successful day but the feedback on our coffee as well as the amazing public interaction made the day a very special event.

“I believe the people also enjoyed the music because many people came to sit and listen. Thank you to the people who organised the IndBazaar, everything was just perfect,” said Van Niekerk.
