Parklands High learners shine in SARB competition

Parklands High School learners participated in the South African Reserve Bank’s school challenge and achieved eighth place, taking home some fantastic prizes.

Parklands High School learners and their teacher walked away with their hands filled with prizes after securing a eighth place in the National 2024 SA Reserve Bank (SARB) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) competition.

The winners were announced at a ceremony at the Sandton Convention Centre. The team – Emmanuel Obiegbu, Nhlanhla Mazibuko, Keabetsoe Mwilenga and Aphiwe Sithole – chose to donate a significant sum of their cash prize to fund a bursary for a deserving learner at their school.

The school competed against 12 others, and the learners each received R5 000 and a certificate. The teacher received a laptop and a certificate. The school also received R10 000.

The learners met SARB governor Lesetja Kganyago and Minister of Basic Education Siviwe Gwarube and presented them with Parklands High School ties.

The school congratulated the talented team for their achievement and generosity.
