South African Air Cadet Corps inspires Alberton youth with new aviation programme

The South African Air Cadet Corps has opened its doors to Alberton, offering local youth a unique opportunity to explore aviation and develop leadership skills that will set them apart in their future careers.

The South African Air Cadet Corps (SAACC) has recently launched a new initiative in Alberton, Brackenhurst, opening its doors to local youth to ignite interest in aviation and provide them with opportunities to explore exciting career paths in the industry.

The NPO aims to inspire young minds by teaching them about various aspects of aviation, from basic flight concepts to advanced leadership skills.

This initiative is designed to help young people broaden their horizons, offering them not only an introduction to the world of aviation but also valuable life skills that will benefit them in both personal and professional contexts.

According to an instructor of SAACC, Second Lieutenant Avisha Rogers, the mission of the programme is clear; to instil a love for aviation and adventure, while also fostering leadership, discipline, and teamwork in youth.

“Our goal is to equip them with skills that will not only set them apart from their peers but will also help them thrive in their future careers,” Avisha said.

The SAACC relies heavily on vetted volunteers who are trained in-house as instructors and officers. These dedicated individuals are responsible for mentoring the young cadets and guiding them through various training modules.

The organisation emphasises the importance of these volunteers, as they play a crucial role in shaping the future of aviation enthusiasts and future professionals.

The youth who participate in the programme will be exposed to a range of activities, including flight simulations, aviation theory, and opportunities to engage in hands-on experiences with real aviation equipment.

These activities are carefully designed to foster a sense of discipline, teamwork, and adventure, all while giving participants the chance to connect with like-minded individuals.

“The Air Cadet Corps is not just about aviation. It’s about developing young leaders who are prepared to face challenges head-on, whether in the skies or in life,” Avisha added.

The programme is not only a gateway into the aviation industry but also a platform for young people to enhance their personal growth and build skills that will serve them well in any career.

Whether they dream of becoming pilots, engineers, or leaders in any field, the SAACC offers an unparalleled foundation.

The NPO is situated at 163 Hennie Albert Street, Brackenhurst, Alberton.
