Local model makes strides towards Paris European Model Showcase
After securing sponsorships and a scholarship, a local model is on the verge of her Paris European Model Showcase debut. With an extension to raise funds, she requests the community’s help towards her international debut.
A local model, who recently visited our newsroom to share her excitement about her selection to the Paris European Model Showcase, is still seeking support to turn her dreams into reality.
Late last year, Paris Blume visited the Alberton Record, asking us to help her reach out to donors and sponsors to help fund her journey to the prestigious event in France.
Now, with the generous support of four sponsors, she has secured sponsored garments she will showcase on the international runway.
The grateful model expressed that although she was still working towards her goal, the recognition she received so far has already marked a significant step in her journey.
“I am thankful to my sponsors. It is one step closer to the dream I always had. Every bit of support counts, and I am seeing the results of my hard work paying off,” she shared.
In addition to her Paris European Model Showcase success, the model had another piece of good news to celebrate. She received a scholarship to pursue tertiary studies in a career of her choice, a moment she describes as life-changing.
What makes this more special is that the well-known TV personality, Somizi Mhlongo, is also a student at the same institution. The model, thrilled by the opportunity, is eager to begin her studies and looks forward to the exciting journey ahead.
“I am ready to embark on this new chapter of my life. It feels amazing to know I will walk the same halls as Somizi and others who inspire me,” Paris said.
Although the official deadline for funding has passed, she received an extension, thanks to faith and determination, which has given her a final opportunity to raise the necessary funds.
“This is the last hurdle, and I believe with the support of my community, I can make it to Paris. I am asking locals to help me make my dream come true and represent our town globally,” the aspiring model said.
Her biggest goal for the year is to take part in South African Fashion Week, a milestone she believes will open doors for international recognition.
While the Paris European Model Showcase opportunity is monumental, her heart remains in South Africa, and she believes this national platform will help her grow.
“I know international agents will notice my work, but I always feel my roots are here. SA Fashion Week will be where I truly make my mark,” she added.
As the model prepares to embark on her fashion and academic journey, she remains hopeful and determined that with continued local support, she will achieve her dreams and help put our town on the map in the global fashion world.
