WATCH: Local plumbers answer call for help
A team at Plumbing All Services is honoured to lend a helping hand to Stepping Stone Palliative Care Services after being moved by a distressing online video.
After seeing a distressing video online of Stepping Stone Hospice’s flooded facilities, a team from Plumbing All Services knew they had to act fast.
Without hesitation, the three got to work, providing their services free to the Hospice’s adult unit.
Thanks to their quick response, the plumbing company cleared and repaired the NPO’s clogged drain.
Nikita van Heerden of Plumbing All Services said as a family-owned business, they understand how important those dear to them are.
“When my mother-in-law reached out regarding the distressing video seen on Facebook about the floods from the rain, we knew we had to step in and help.
“We reached out that evening around 21:00 and asked them if they needed assistance. They informed us the rain was light, so they were okay but would appreciate us coming through the next day,” she said.
The next day, they approached hospice CEO and founder Tersia Burger and offered to assess the problem.
“Our team arrived on site on February 11 and did what was needed, ensuring everyone would not have to worry about the flooding at their entrance again.

“We will do this every three months to ensure there will be no more floods. We also offered to assist with maintenance and plumbing work as far as we can. We see what Stepping Stone does for every person in their care, so what is it to return the kindness?” Nikita said.
On behalf of Stepping Stone Hospice, Tersia thanked the plumbing company, “We express our gratitude to the Plumbing All Services team for their selfless act of kindness. This has made an enormous difference to our operations,” she said.
