Hoërskool Dinamika’s first donkey derby is a roaring success

Hoërskool Dinamika hosted their very first donkey derby, and it was a huge success.

In a night filled with fun, flair, and a dash of competitive spirit, Hoërskool Dinamika’s first donkey derby galloped its way to a spectacular success.

Held on March 1, this unique fundraiser was a hit with the local community, drawing crowds from across the area eager to witness this most unusual and entertaining race night.

The Donkey Derby was no ordinary charity event. Instead of real donkeys, participants took to creatively crafted donkeys made of wood and imagination, racing through a makeshift obstacle course that had the audience in stitches.

Beyond the racing, the event showcased the creativity and style of the school community.

Guests, especially the ladies, turned up in their best derby attire, donning extravagant hats. The gentlemen were not to be outdone, sporting colourful jackets and dapper suits. Some hats were so grand that they nearly caused a false start, but it only added to the charm and laughter of the evening.

According to one of the event organisers from Hoërskool Dianmika, Wally Anderson, this event has shown how strong their school community is.

“It is amazing to see everyone gathering for a good cause and having fun,” Wally said.

The Donkey Derby raised significant funds for the school that will support various educational initiatives and activities.

It was a resounding success, thanks to the hard work of the organisers, sponsors and enthusiastic participants.

The generous support of local businesses and sponsors made the night special, including Adelicious Coffee and Treats, Pick n Pay Brackenhurst, Raceview Motors, Cafe@Creative, PostNet Brackenhurst, PostNet Meyersdal, and Irene Hattingh, who contributed a variety of gifts.

Organisers are already planning next year’s event, full of excitement, creativity, and fun. Until then, the motto remains; always sit on the right ‘horse’ – faster, stronger, and in the right direction.
