Hoërskool Marais Viljoen High School’s cross country team participated in this highly competitive series on April 22, in Potchefstroom, North West.

The NWU Prestige Series is a multi-sport event hosted by the North-West University (NWU) and its aimed at to showcasing talent and excellence in schools sports.

Marias Viljoen’s junior team performed exceptionally well and ultimately secured third place overall – an encouraging achievement against strong competition.

The senior team tried their best and ultimately secured fifth place in a very challenging field.

Hoërskool Marais Viljoen High School as a school and team placed overall fourth in the competition.

“A huge thank you to our sponsors and congratulations to every athlete – you ran not only for yourselves, but for each other, for your coaches, and for your school. May this achievement be just the beginning of many more podium places ahead. Keep running, keep dreaming,” the school said in a statement.

Marais Viljoen’s cross country team was represented by Rushade Brander, Amori van Vuuren, Ezra Fisher, Jordan Smit, Kelly Raubebheimer, Kade Booysen, Ruan van den Berg, Khloe Jordan, Zanike Els, Sabrina Falcoa, Siyabonga Khoza, Iyazi Ndlovu, Heylinn Nelson, Tumelo Rakgogo, Zenzi Raadt, Ntsako Chongo, Khumo Maluleke, Lianke Visser, Juane Needham, Clarisse Bloem, Sasha Lee Labuschagne, Kai-Leigh Vetter, Tyran Brooks, Larisa Kriel, Daniel Haystek, Zayda Rip, Onthatile Mogopodi, Luciano Brander, Miracle Maluza, Lubabalo Sishuba, and Kgopotso Mphuti.
