School emphasises life skills through Eisteddfod

Junior Colleges Meyersdal buzzed with excitement and applause this week when learners from Grade 0000 to Grade 0 took the stage to showcase their talents at the annual Eisteddfod.

The school became a mini theatre as learners proudly recited poems they had rehearsed for weeks. Parents, teachers, and classmates looked on with pride as each child stepped forward to perform.

Principal Elriza Riddle commended the young performers’ courage and enthusiasm, “We believe in nurturing confident speakers and creative minds from an early age. Our learners showed bravery and joy on stage, and we are incredibly proud of every one of them.”

The event was more than a celebration of performance; it also highlighted the school’s commitment to developing essential life skills.

“Public speaking, self-expression and perseverance are qualities we strive to build,” said Zay Prasadh, the Grade 0 teacher.

“The Eisteddfod is the perfect opportunity to see them shine.”

Parents attended scheduled time slots to cheer on their children, creating a warm, supportive atmosphere. Many thanked the teachers for their dedication to preparing the children and boosting their confidence.

As this year’s Eisteddfod came to a close, the smiles and pride on the children’s faces told a story of growth, courage and the joy of learning through the arts.
