WATCH: Albertonians lead walk to KZN, raising awareness for vulnerable groups

The group started its great trek on Eeufees Road and Van Riebeeck Avenue in Alberton.

A group of Albertonians are leading a provincial walk from Gauteng to KZN. Dubbed a 1 000 Reasons to Walk, it includes more than a dozen men and women who want to raise awareness.

“We are going to walk all the way to KZN to raise awareness about the plight of homeless people and other vulnerable groups in Alberton and across SA. We aim to raise awareness about child abuse and other social ills.

This walk is also a way to praise Jesus Christ and to get Christ back into our lives,” said Deon Pretorius, part of the group walking to KZN.

“We are walking for SA’s most vulnerable – the homeless, unemployed and those who have lost hope. Every step is a voice for the voiceless. Every rand brings us closer to restoring dignity and opportunity,” reads the statement from the group.
