WATCH: Church lends helping hand to struggling families at Alberton’s Funny Farm

The African Methodist Episcopal (AME) church donated food parcels to struggling families at Alberton’s Funny Farm.

The African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, through its ACE League, donated food parcels on September 20 to struggling families at the informal settlement in Alberton North, known as Alberton’s Funny Farm.

The church congregants marched from the Alberton Civic Centre to the informal settlement carrying food parcels.

“We visited this informal settlement to give residents in this area a little hope with groceries. This is our way of making a difference in their lives through a programme called Social Action,” said AME’s reverend Thapelo Selebalo.

An opening prayer, singing of church songs, and remarks by the church leadership preceded the food parcel handover.

The food parcels included mealie-meal, tea bags, sugar, toilet paper, and other basic items.
