WATCH: Stepping Stone Hospice Doggy Fun Day brings Alberton community together

Even with the rain affecting some planned activities, the Doggy Day highlighted the power of community, fun, and support for a meaningful cause, creating lasting memories for families and their beloved pets.

Parklands High School, in partnership with Stepping Stone Hospice, welcomed families and their four-legged companions for a lively Doggy Family Fun Day on 27 September.

The event ran from 09:00 until the afternoon, creating a festive atmosphere filled with laughter, connection, and community spirit.

The day featured dog-and-owner contests; however, due to rain, only the Best Dressed Dog category went ahead. Leo took first place, while other deserving pups secured second and third place.

Beyond the contests, attendees enjoyed tasty treats, live entertainment, and a variety of stalls selling food and unique items. Dogs of all sizes attended responsibly on leashes, creating a safe and joyful environment for everyone.

Stepping Stone Hospice expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who attended and supported the cause: “Thank you to everyone who joined us with their four-legged companions this past Saturday at Parklands High School! We partnered with APN, Riana Nel, Denise Lourens, and Kobus Labuschagne to create a memorable family fun day, and we’re deeply thankful to Parklands High School for allowing us to use their wonderful facilities for this special community event.”

The event was made possible thanks to Rand Corporate Consultants (RANDCO), the main sponsor, as well as support from the Alberton CPF and Ward 106 Councillor Tim Denny. Vendors also helped make the day special with a wide variety of delicious foods and items for sale.
