The City of Ekurhuleni’s electricity charge consultation is scheduled for Alberton

The Basic Electricity Charge is on the table, and the CoE is listening. This is your chance to shape the decision. Speak now or pay later.

The CoE is calling on Alberton residents to have their say during consultations on the basic charge introduced in the Supply of Electricity Tariffs for the 2025/26 financial year.

“Public consultations on the basic electricity charge continue. These meetings are aimed specifically at customers under Tariff A.2, which applies to non-indigent, low consumption residential households,” said the CoE in a statement.

In July, the council suspended a decision taken on the basic electricity charge to allow more residents to have their say. Alberton, this is your chance.

The meeting for wards 37, 38, 94 and 106 will start at 11:00 at the Alberton New Chamber on October 11.
