Andries Venter, one of the most influential people in the history of the Alberton Athletics Club, passed away on December 29, 2025, after a heart attack.

He was a towering presence in South African road running and served the Alberton Athletics Club as chairperson from 1992 to 1996 and again from 1998 to 2017.

A final farewell to Andries will take place on January 20 at 12:00 at Kruisstap Familie Kerk, 2 Papawer Street, Riversdal, Vereeniging.
