Parts of Alberton to face water outage

Planned maintenance by the City of Ekurhuleni will result in a temporary water supply interruption in selected areas.

Residents in parts of Alberton and surrounding areas are advised to prepare for a temporary water interruption.

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) has confirmed that the water supply will be shut down on Tuesday, March 24, from 09:30 to 17:30 to allow for planned maintenance on the network.

According to CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, the work forms part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the reliability of the water infrastructure.

Areas expected to be affected include Albertsdal extensions 30, 31, 32, 34, 42 and 43, as well as Alrode, Leopard Rest and Thinasonke.

A water tanker will be stationed along JG Strijdom Road to assist residents during the outage.

Residents are urged to prepare in advance and use water sparingly ahead of the shutdown. They are also reminded to ensure taps are closed to prevent water loss or damage when the supply is restored.

Tips:

  • Store enough water in clean containers for drinking, cooking and hygiene.
  • Use water sparingly and prioritise essential needs during the interruption.
  • Make use of the water tanker provided where needed.
  • Report leaks or water-related issues to the city’s call centre or the My CoE app.
