He rounded off an exceptional outing by taking first place in the gopher bar curl, again lifting 45kg.
The event also saw Pit Bull Gym represented in an official capacity, with international referee Mark Esch officiating during the World Powerlifting Congress (WPC) powerlifting meet held alongside the qualifier.
The strong showing at the Benoni event comes on the back of recent international success for the club.
Last year, Du Bruyn and Esch achieved global recognition at the WPC World Championships in Durban, where both athletes claimed gold medals and world champion titles in their respective divisions.
Competing in the Masters 2 category within the 100-110kg bodyweight division, Du Bruyn secured gold in the equipped bench press.
Esch, competing in the Masters 4 division in the 125-140kg category, earned two gold medals in both the equipped and raw bench press, marking his third world title.

Their achievements formed part of a broader success story for Pit Bull Powerlifting Club, with teammates Michael Buys and Danie Martin also delivering podium finishes in their respective divisions.
Reflecting on their journey, the athletes credited months of disciplined training, sacrifice and commitment for their achievements on both national and international stages, while also acknowledging the support of their families, training partners and the wider community.
