City of Ekurhuleni launches #FixingTheFrontline collaboration talks
City of Ekurhuleni had a meeting with the Wits School of Governance to improve how the CoE works and deliver better services to residents.
The City of Ekurhuleni has taken another step to improve how it works by engaging with the Wits School of Governance.
The meeting, led by City Manager Kagiso Lerutla and WSG Head Professor Themba Maseko, was held on April 1 in Germiston.
It forms part of the City’s #FixingTheFrontline initiative, which focuses on improving governance and service delivery.
The aim is to improve how the CoE operates, address challenges, and provide better services to residents. It also aims to build stronger systems and improve accountability.
During the meeting, both parties discussed important areas such as risk management, change management, reputational governance and improving accountability systems within the City.
They also discussed the possibility of conducting a Governance Maturity Assessment. This will help the City understand its weaknesses and find better ways to improve.
CoE clarified that the engagement is still in its early stages and does not yet represent a formal partnership. More discussions will follow to determine the scope and structure of any future collaboration.
The Wits School of Governance is known for helping government institutions improve through training, research and advisory services. The City believes this engagement could support its plans to reform and improve performance.
The City said it remains committed to transparency and accountability while working to improve services for its residents.
More updates will be shared as discussions continue.
