Community unites for Child Awareness Walk at Rietvlei Zoo Farm

Alberton residents are invited to wear blue and take part in a Child Awareness Walk at Rietvlei Zoo Farm on April 18, as multiple local NPOs unite to protect vulnerable children.

Residents of Alberton are invited to take a stand for child protection at the upcoming LOTS Child Awareness Walk on April 18 at Rietvlei Zoo Farm.

The event, hosted in collaboration with several non-profit organisations, aims to raise awareness about the importance of protecting children and creating safer communities.

Participants are encouraged to arrive from 07:00, with the walk officially starting at 08:00.

The initiative brings together a number of organisations, including LOTS, Helpende Hande, Amcare, Tutela, Alberton Child Welfare, SANCA, Reach for a Life – No Regrets, and Ligstad, all united in their mission to support vulnerable children.

Organisers say the walk is about more than awareness.

“Every step we take brings hope to a child in need,” they shared.

Community members can support the initiative by attending the walk, volunteering, offering financial assistance, or even considering becoming foster parents.

The entrance fee is R50, with proceeds contributing towards child-focused support initiatives.

The event carries a strong message: Silence hurts – Awareness brings hope.
