Alberton and Edenglen share honours in tightly contested derby
Alberton High hosted Edenglen on April 11 in a competitive derby, with both schools dominating different sporting codes.
A highly competitive derby between Alberton High School and Edenglen High School took place on April 11, with results reflecting a closely fought contest across multiple sporting codes.
Alberton High proved dominant in several junior divisions. In U14 rugby, they secured four wins compared to Edenglen’s single victory.

A similar trend followed in hockey, where Alberton recorded three wins while Edenglen managed one.
On the netball courts, Alberton’s junior teams delivered a clean sweep in the U14 and U15 divisions, winning all four of their matches.
Edenglen, however, responded strongly in the senior netball category.

In the U16 division, they claimed two wins, with their second team beating Alberton High 14-8.
Alberton secured two victories in a competitive series of matches.

In the rugby U16 division, Edenglen edged ahead to claim the win, adding to their tally in the senior divisions.
Alberton High also stood out in strategic codes, emerging as the overall winners in both chess and tennis.

They secured convincing victories in chess across both junior and senior divisions and finished ahead in tennis with an overall result of 18-14.
The derby also included participation from Brackenhurst Primary School, Colin Mann Primary and Robertsham Primary School.

Brackenhurst delivered an impressive performance, winning both their matches 17-7 against Colin Mann Primary and 32-1 against Robertsham.

The day highlighted the depth of talent and competitive spirit between the schools, with Alberton excelling in junior and strategic codes, while Edenglen showed strength in senior fixtures.
