WATCH: 1 killed and 6 injured in crash at R59 south off-ramp and Nelson Mandela intersection

Emergency services rushed to the early-morning collision scene in Alberton, where multiple people sustained critical and serious injuries following a crash involving two light bakkies.

One person was killed and six others injured following a crash involving two light bakkies at the R59 south off-ramp and Nelson Mandela intersection in Alberton on May 19.

According to Gauteng Traffic Police spokesperson Sello Maremane, the accident occurred at approximately 05:30.

“The collision involved two light motor vehicles. One person was declared dead on scene, while two people sustained critical injuries and four others suffered serious injuries,” said Maremane.

Emergency services responded to the scene and transported the injured to a nearby medical facility for further care.

Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The scene has since been cleared, and traffic is flowing normally in the area.
