Alberton pensioner relieved after receiving R32 159 from Postbank following prolonged dispute

After months of delays, document requests and a long-running dispute, an Alberton pensioner says she has finally been paid by Postbank and can now put the matter behind her.

An Alberton pensioner, Lynn Tyack, who spent more than a year fighting to recover her SASSA-linked funds, says she is relieved after finally receiving R32 159 from Postbank.

Tyack confirmed that the money reflected in her account on May 16, following months of disputes, repeated document submissions and ongoing engagements with Postbank.

“I can’t believe it. I must say I’m relieved. Thank you for all your help in getting the money back to us,” she said.

The Alberton Record previously reported that Tyack’s difficulties began in March 2025 when she went to Pick n Pay to replace her SASSA Gold card and was allegedly informed that her replacement Postbank Black card had already been issued.

She later experienced disruptions to her SASSA-linked payments and claimed that she went months without receiving money before payments resumed.

Tyack had also expressed frustration over repeated requests for documents and verification while trying to recover the outstanding funds.

In our previous article, the Alberton Record reported that Tyack was owed about R22 720. However, the correct amount paid to her was R32 159.

At the time, Tyack said the prolonged delays placed financial strain and left her emotionally exhausted.

The matter was eventually resolved after continued follow-ups and communication regarding the outstanding balance.
