The increased security follows a meeting on Thursday between SAPS, local law enforcement, and private security companies ahead of the planned June 30 protests.

During the meeting, officials discussed coordination efforts, response protocols and safety measures to prepare for possible disruptions, including crowd management and rapid response to incidents such as looting or public disorder.
