WATCH: Alberton blood donor achieves historic 600th milestone

Gerhard Roos has donated blood, plasma and platelets for more than two decades and says he plans to continue for as long as he can.

Gerhard Roos (67) made his 600th blood donation at Alberton Donor Centre on October 4.

He has been donating blood for more than 20 years and also donates blood plasma and blood platelets.

Roos travels from Benoni to the new Alberton City South African Blood Donation Centre to make his life-saving donations.

He says he will continue to give blood until he is unable to do so.

‘It has value’

“I have been donating blood for many years; I know it has value and I can help people. I won’t be able to do it forever, but I will go on with it,” says Roos.
